Valea Morilor Park: Chișinău’s green lungs

· 1 min read

For many Chișinău residents, Valea Morilor Park is the symbol of nature in the city: an artificial lake surrounded by forest, walking paths, and picnic areas where families spend weekends. Recent infrastructure rehabilitation has brought the park back to the forefront of capital life.

Throughout the year the park changes face: magnolias and lilacs bloom in spring, generous shade in summer, and autumn foliage draws amateur photographers. In winter, the frozen lake becomes a promenade and, occasionally, a venue for winter sports.

Local authorities invest in protecting lake water quality, planting native species, and limiting activities that could disturb wildlife. Ducks, egrets, and various fish species are an integral part of the park ecosystem.

For capital residents, Valea Morilor is an accessible escape without a car — a few transit stops or a walk from the centre. It is where the city breathes.
